Soprano ANA ARNAZ began her musical studies as a young child at the Miguel Fleta Music School in Huesca, Spain, a school where the voice is the foundation of every students’ musical education. These first years determined the course of her later career: an integral education in which vocal training, learning an instrument and musical theory were inseparable. After graduating with honors from the Liceo Conservatory in Barcelona, she continued her studies in the field of Early Music with Dominique Vellard and Richard Levitt at the Schola Cantorum in Basel, Switzerland.

Ana’s interest in female repertoire in early music led her to found the ensemble, Cantaderas as well as to join the ensemble, EVOCA. Both groups aim to preserve the aural tradition of learning and transmitting music by ear. Her work as a voice teacher at the Schola Cantorum complements and is integral to her work as a performer. In addition, she teaches at the Hauterive Monastery in Fribourg where a cistercian community still follows the daily round. Ana lives in Basel, Switzerland with her husband and two children.
