Originally from Hampton, Virginia, Morgan Sutherland is a percussionist enjoying the worlds of orchestral and chamber music. In the summer of 2019, Morgan was chosen as a fellow for the Cortona Sessions for New Music in Cortona, Italy. Following the Cortona Sessions, she participated in the annual benefit concert of SoundFound, an organization focused on supporting the needs of Northern Virginia communities. In the Summer of 2018, she was named an Undergraduate Research Scholar at George Mason University, where she received a grant to commission a new work for percussion trio and electronics by composer Anna Meadors. With her percussion quartet, mmilk, Morgan plans to continue commissioning new works that promote social equality in music. She is currently a graduate student pursuing a Master of Music degree at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where she studies with percussionist Ayano Kataoka.
